Characteristics of polyacrylamide:

(1) Flocculation: PAM can make the suspended matter pass through the hour and the bridge to adsorb and act as flocculation.

(2) Adhesiveness: It can be bonded by mechanical, physical, or chemical action.

(3) Thickening: PAM has thickening effect under both neutral and acidic conditions. When the pH value is above 10, PAM is easy to hydrolyze and becomes semi-network structure, thickening will be more obvious.

(4) Resistance reduction: PAM can effectively reduce the frictional resistance of fluids. Water in the water can reduce the resistance by 50-80%.

Polyacrylamide application:

(1) Polyacrylamide for municipal day sewage.

In the sewage treatment of the day, polyacrylamide can promote the rapid coagulation and sedimentation of the suspended particles to achieve separation and clearing by the neutralization of electricity and its own adsorption bridging effect. It is mainly used in the front section of the sewage treatment plant for flocculation and sedimentation and sludge dewatering in the latter stage.

(2) Polyacrylamide for industrial wastewater.

When polyacrylamide is added to the suspended turbid particles, the neutralization of the polymer and the adsorption bridging action of the polymer itself can promote the rapid coagulation and sedimentation of the suspended particles, and reach the role of separation and clarification. In turn, the work efficiency is improved and the operating cost is reduced.

(3) Polyacrylamide used in textile printing and dyeing industry.

As a sizing agent and a packing agent for fabric post-treatment, polyacrylamide can form a protective layer of crepe, wrinkle and mold. With its strong hygroscopic characteristics, it can reduce the breakage rate when spinning spun yarns; it can also prevent static electricity and flame retardant of fabrics. When used as a printing and dyeing auxiliary, it can enhance the adhesion fastness and increase the brilliance of the product; it can also be used as a non-silicon polymer stabilizer for bleaching; in addition, it can also be used for the efficient purification of textile printing and dyeing wastewater.

(4) Polyacrylamide used in the paper industry.

Polyacrylamide is widely used as a retention aid, filter aid, sputum dispersant, etc. in the papermaking category. Its role is to improve the quality of paper, improve the dewatering performance of the slurry, improve the retention rate of fine fibers and fillers, reduce the cost of raw materials and environmental pollution. The role of use in papermaking depends on its average molecular weight, ionic properties, ionic strength, and activity of other copolymers. Non-ionic PAM is mainly used to improve the filterability of pulp, add dry paper strength, and improve the retention rate of fibers and fillers; anionic copolymers are mainly used as dry and wet enhancers and residence agents for paper; It is used in papermaking wastewater treatment and filtration, and has a good effect on the retention rate of progressive fillers.

(5) Polyacrylamide used in the coal industry.

Coal washing wastewater, coal slurry water in coal preparation plant, and ground scouring wastewater from coal-fired power plants are all mixtures of water and fine coal powder. The primary feature is high turbidity, fine solid particle size, and negative charge on the surface of solid particles. The repulsive force between the charges keeps the particles in a dispersive state in water, which is affected by gravity and Brownian motion; because of the interaction between the solid particle interfaces in the coal slurry water, the nature of the coal washing wastewater is quite complicated, not only with suspension.

(6) Polyacrylamide for the alcohol industry.

How is polyacrylamide used? In general, polyacrylamide is mainly used in the sludge dewatering process in the latter stage.
